You ever get that feeling of overwhelm and anxiety when viewing your to-do list (and realize how long many of the items have gone undone)?
Me TOO!
Until I realized that I didn’t really need to do all of them.
The idea of doing a brain dump (putting all the things you think you want/need to do on a list so then they aren’t clogging up your brain) is an organizational idea I learned about at a young age. The idea appears flawed however, because it doesn’t actually make my brain feel less stress or anxiety … as purported.
Maybe there’s a better way.
According to the book The ONE Thing: The Surprisingly Simple Truth Behind Extraordinary Results:
A to-do list is simply the things you think you need to do; the first thing on your list is just the first thing you thought of. Most to-do lists are actually just survival lists – getting you through your day and life, but not making each day a stepping-stone for the next so that you sequentially build a success life.
Today I challenge you to work through the STUCK by letting go of that survival list. Throw it away. Instead create a real list of only those things that are going to move you towards where you want to go and who you want to be.
Today’s Challenge
SLASH THE TO-DO LIST AND CREATE A SUCCESS LIST.
Attached is an example from “The ONE Thing” book which shows how to prioritize your to-do list into a success list.
